Yes we eat Sailfish in Hawaii. They are very good eats no matter how you prepare. Here are highlights of a double strike Kyle got during the 2015 Makahiki Kayak Fishing Tournament. I kept the first fish in real time to show how quick he got it to the kayak. Little over two minutes for a fish that size is ANIMO! Warning adult language. Enjoy! Highlights of the first 100 lb Yellowfin Tuna (Ahi) caught from a kayak on Kauai. Caught on a 7 ft Shimano Tallus rod and Shimano Talica 16 II reel. Additional footage provided by Kyle Yokoyama. videos are awesome! i want to start kayak fishing but there's way to many options. i dont know which one to buy. another thing that holds me back is my lack of friends i could fish with. i dont have many that enjoy the waters as much as i do, i dont feel safe going out by myself. i live on kauai with all of you guys. maybe one day ill find some friends that will be willing to start fishing with me. anyways, great videos looks fun.
Kyle, do you still catch Yellowfin 50 Lbs and up off Kauai from a Kayak or are those bigger fish further and further out now requiring a bigger boat for the longer trek?

It's fairly light, so it does get a little squirly when paddling, but it's not meant for anything more than casual flat water, so not a bid deal. Fairly easy to deflate and pack into backpack. Any recommendations on how to get started kayak fishing on Kauai, got a hobbies mirage tandem that’s set up for fishing but no idea where to start. I’ve asked around but nobody wants to teach a noobie. Do you know of anyone who does lessons/ charters?

Hey, I was wondering the gold reels behind you, what reel and rod are they; be specific :D I'm looking into getting 3 new rod set ups I should get (to pair with maybe 6000/8000 size reel) , I currently have a TLD25(on a 5'6" Tuna Stick, stiff af), and a Spinfisher SSV650 (and looking for a good weight range rod, that can cast stick baits/live bait, going after tuna/wahoo/kingfish/Jacks/Mahi/Marlin; just asking for what would your standard 3 rod set up)
I think the gold ones you're asking about are Penn torques. Not sure on exact size need to ask my friends. They use seeker Hercules rods and I use Shimano Trevala rods. We like our rods to be about 6 to 6.5 feet. Anything shorter makes it hard to reach around the front of the kayak. Hope this helps. Mahalo for watching!

Thanks bro it was a heck of a workout. They run every summer and if we get lucky they come within kayak range. My buddy got one couple months ago at the same spot. Couple chunks got bit off, but it still tipped the scale at 125.5 lbs.
